A wave of excitement and camaraderie swept across General Baptist Bible College (GBBC) as the institution kicked off the new academic year with a spirited opening ceremony held on August 23, 2024. Students, faculty, and staff spanning every level from preschool to college, converged to celebrate the spirit of learning and community.
The day began with a serene opening prayer led by Kenneth James M. Maputol, setting a reflective and contemplative tone. The National Anthem echoed through the air, followed by the recitation of the Panatang Makabayan and the Panunumpa sa Watawat, reinforcing the values of patriotism and loyalty.
Mark Lomarda orchestrated an animated crowd call activity, during which each class proudly showcased their unique battle cries and chants for the upcoming school year. The campus vibrated with the dynamic expressions of each class, creating an atmosphere of friendly competition and unity. The event reached its crescendo as all voices joined in unison to proclaim the theme for the year: “Greatness Begins in Believing and Commitment.”
The atmosphere grew even more spirited during the poignant worship session led by the Mentors Band headed by Sir Evan Rubia. Attendees were spiritually connected through the heartfelt melodies and lyrics of two songs, sharing a common purpose.
President Joyce C. Porcadilla-Rubia graced the stage with her presence, delivering an encouraging welcome message that resonated with the audience, setting a positive and enthusiastic tone for the academic journey ahead.
Returning to the spotlight, the Mentors Band delivered an evocative rendition of the Theme Song, “Nothing is Impossible” by Planetshakers, adding a creative dimension to the event and leaving a lasting impact with its poignant message.
A standout moment during the ceremony was the teacher’s introduction segment, masterfully guided by Mark Lomarda. As each department’s faculty and staff were introduced, a sense of community and collaboration flourished. The culmination of this segment saw everyone convene at the photo wall for class pictures. Following this, class advisers conducted a campus tour, enabling students to familiarize themselves with their surroundings.
As the tour progressed, the students were warmly welcomed by various offices, each hosting engaging and informative activities. These interactions added an element of fun and practical insight to the day, making the students feel right at home.
As the opening ceremony drew to a close, the General Baptist Bible College campus remained abuzz with the spirit of unity and excitement. The event not only marked the start of a new academic year but also embodied the shared dreams and potential of the GBBC community.
As the sun cast its glow, it illuminated not only the campus but also the boundless possibilities and opportunities that lie ahead for the General Baptist Bible College family, led by the esteemed President Joyce Porcadilla-Rubia.
