As the school year is about to close, the General Baptist Bible College (GBBC) hosted a crucial event aimed at empowering parents in their pivotal role as character-builders for their children. The Parent’s Conference, themed “Building Character: Instilling Values in our Children,” took place on May 11, 2024, at the GBBC Covered Court.
With guest speaker, Rev. Eric Ortega, the conference underscored the fundamental importance of parental involvement in shaping the character and values of their children. With the aim of providing parents with the necessary tools and insights, the event sought to equip them to actively engage in fostering positive character traits and ethical values in their children.
Rev. Ortega also emphasized the importance of spending quality time with the children through traditional oral storytelling to develop the cognitive and affective domains of the child’s mind thereby helping the child grow in comprehension and critical thinking.
The latter part of the event showcased presentations from students, highlighting their talents and contributions to the school community. This served as a reminder of the collective effort required to nurture a conducive environment for character development and values instillation.
The Parent’s Conference at GBBC proved to be a significant milestone in the journey towards empowering parents to become effective agents of character-building and values instillation in the lives of their children. With newfound knowledge, skills, and motivation, parents departed with a renewed sense of purpose and determination to nurture the next generation of leaders grounded in integrity and compassion.
