February 5-10, 2024 marked the 59th founding anniversary of the General Baptist Bible College. We come together as a family to celebrate God’s goodness and faithfulness over the years. We thank those who have gone before us and have paved the way for us to be where GBBC is right now. We thank all our missionaries and leaders in the past who had the God-given vision to establish an institution like this on this side of the world and now we are standing on their shoulders, by the grace of God!
GBBC has gone through a lot over the years, but time and time again God has always reminded us to trust in Him with all our hearts and to lean not on our own understanding, and in all our ways to acknowledge Him because He has and will direct our paths. Hence, our theme for this year, “Greatness Begins in Believing and Commitment,” with theme verse found in Proverbs 3:5-6.
The reason why we have gathered here today is to acknowledge Him and thank Him because He has been the reason and will always be the reason of our celebration.
Thank you so much to our Board of Trustees, our churches here and abroad, our leaders here and abroad, our sponsors and donors, our alumni both in the college and HS departments, our learners, and of course our dear parents and guardians for your continued support and prayers to GBBC.
Likewise, we acknowledge and appreciate our very dedicated and hard working faculty and staff for all their sacrifices and sleepless nights.
While we are celebrating and rejoicing right now, we also have brethren in some areas, specifically in Davao region, who have been affected by some calamities. Many have been affected by the massive flooding last week due to the continuous rain and just last night a massive landslide happened at Masara, Maco, Davao de Oro where a number of people were covered and the search and rescue operations are still ongoing.
Let us take this moment to pause and offer a word of prayer for all those who have been affected and those who are working tirelessly for the rescue, retrieval, relief, and recovery.
As a family, our hearts are rejoicing as well as heavy because of what’s going on around us. But no matter what the situation is and despite our circumstances, we trust in our Abba Father that He will see us through. There are just some things beyond our control and the best thing that we can do is to trust in Him.
Happy 59th Founding Anniversary, GBBC! To God be all the glory!!!
