COLLEGE STUDENTS BRACE FOR A NEW SCHOOL YEAR
Monday Aug 19, 2019 08:09 am
Today, August 19th, is the first day of classes for the first semester of school year 2019-2020 in the college department. As of this writing, we have a total of 31 officially enrolled students for both the Theology and Christian Education programs.
We are very thankful for the number of students that God brought to GBBC for this school year because we realize that since we don’t have much space in our dormitories for both girls and boys we obviously can’t accept and accommodate more students until such time that we can build a bigger dormitory.
We thank the Women’s Ministries for their generosity and to all individuals and churches who gave towards this project. We still need around $30,000 to complete the funds to start the first phase of the dormitory. Efforts to raise more funds to build a new dormitory is still on going. If God is leading you to help, you may still donate any amount towards this project. Your financial contribution is such a big help for us to realize this project so that we can accept more students to be trained, equipped and developed for missions and ministry.
On a different note, the GBBC Praise Team has arrived safely back in the Philippines. The team conducted a concert tour visiting the Summit and some General Baptist churches in Missouri, Arkansas, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, and Tennessee. Special thanks to Westside General Baptist Church in St. Ann, MO; Real Life Church in Springfield, IL; Connection Point Church in Jackson, MO; Risen Church, Dexter, MO; Agee Fellowship in Poplar Bluff, MO; Hitts Chapel in Piggott, AR; McLeansboro 1st General Baptist Church, McLeansboro, IL; Vertical Church in Fort Branch, IL; Providence General Baptist Church in Providence, KY; Henderson General Baptist Church in Henderson, KY; and Strong Tower Church campuses in Lafayette and Westmoreland, TN.
Special thanks also to Otter Creek General Baptist Church in Boonville, IN and to the Sunnyvale General Baptist Church in Malden, MO for the loan of a van which the team used all throughout our travels. It would have been very difficult for the team had we not have a vehicle to use. Thank you so much Pastor James Hamlett and to the entire congregation of Sunnyvale General Baptist Church.
Our heartfelt thanks also to our Executive Director Clint Cook, International Missions Director Mark Powell, Mission One Coordinator Jim Pratt for organizing the trip and for making all this possible and to Justin Benefiel of Fellowship Church in Poplar Bluff, MO for serving as musical coordinator.
Thank you to all of you for your prayers and for your support and to all the families who welcomed us into their homes, thank you so much for your hospitality. It was truly an awesome trip. We thank all of you for this opportunity and this experience. It was a learning experience as well. The team enjoyed the trip and the times of worship that were incredible. We will forever be grateful for this experience. Thank you so much for this great opportunity. This meant a lot to the team and this has helped promote GBBC in a bigger and wider scope. Appreciate this so much and appreciate all of you!
Now that we have started school year 2019-2020, we continue to ask for your prayers and for your support. You may help us financially also through our student sponsorship program and through helping us build a new dormitory. We thank you for your partnership for the past 55 years. As GBBC celebrates another milestone this year, our hearts are filled with gratefulness for God’s provision, protection, guidance, direction and for all of you whom God put in our lives to help us in this ministry that is making a difference in the Philippines and beyond.
