The General Baptist Bible College (GBBC) was established in 1965 as an answer to an appeal from the local General Baptist Churches for a much needed training school for national church workers. The school opened its doors to learners at the old rented building located at the corner of Quezon Boulevard and Gempesaw Streets.
After three (3) years in Gempesaw, the school moved to Puan and again occupied a rented house about 150 meters from McArthur Highway. Finally, a spacious lot was acquired where new buildings were constructed.
At present, GBBC is nestled on a 3-hectare campus in Libby Road, Puan, Davao City, which is about 12 kilometers from the downtown area.
The school received its Government Recognition on May 8, 1975. Since then, the school has been offering courses leading to a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Theology and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Christian Education.
In 2000, the school was granted a permit to operate its pre-school and elementary departments. This also led to the establishment of its secondary department. At present, GBBC, aside from its tertiary department, now has a complete basic education department.
On December 23, 2010, the preschool and elementary departments of GBBC received its government recognition (R-XI No. 002, Series of 2010). Likewise, the high school department received its government recognition (R-XI No. 10, Series 2011) on June 9, 2011.
